Private-label packaging has to protect the product, communicate the brand and suit the sales channel. A clear packaging brief also prevents avoidable changes after the product sample is approved.
Choose the retail format
Common directions include header cards, belly bands, color boxes, inserts, polybags and multipacks. The right format depends on the product, presentation, handling and channel. Ask the manufacturer to confirm what works with the garment dimensions and packing process.
Define labels and required information
List brand labels, care labels, size marks, fiber-content wording, barcodes, carton marks and any market-specific information your team requires. The buyer remains responsible for confirming legal and retailer requirements for the destination market.
Prepare artwork for production
Supply logo files, dieline artwork, colors, typography and placement instructions in a usable format. Identify which elements must match exactly and which can be adjusted for production. If artwork is incomplete, state what development support you need.
Connect packaging to the product specification
Packaging decisions affect folding, pairing, labeling and carton planning. Confirm size and color assortments, units per pack and any mixed-style requirements together with the product specification. MOQ and cost should be reviewed for the complete product and packaging combination.
Approve before bulk packing
Review the physical or digital packaging proof appropriate to the project. Confirm text, colors, barcode data, placement and pack-out instructions before bulk use. Keep the approved version with the final product specification.
